About Volunteers

We are blessed to have an incredible community of supporters and volunteers.  Camp Occohannock thrives because of the support of it’s volunteers.  Volunteers are the heart and soul of the ministry at Camp Occohannock.

Work Day Volunteers

Each year the camp has a fall (September) and spring (April) work day.  It’s amazing what is accomplish in a single day.  The next work day is March 08, 2025 (Reschedule date March 15).  Workers arrive early around 8:00am and serve throughout the day.  We serve lunch for all our volunteers.  It’s a wonderful time for community and to connect with our local camp families.

There is no age restriction on our volunteer work day.  There are a variety of opportunities including cleaning and helping to set up for our summer camp.  We also have opportunities for volunteers that come with special skills.  We provide the materials and resources, along with helpful guidance and direction in completing jobs.

Camp Impact Congregations

We have started a new program working with local congregations to make retreats and summer camp more affordable.  Congregations who want to take advantage of this exciting program and be listed as an Impact Congregation use this link to follow up for more information.  Those who register will get the full explanation of the program and have the opportunity to participate.

Spiritual Guides/Camp Volunteers

Do you have time or a talent that you are willing to share to help make a difference?

During the summer camp season we welcome volunteers who have a desire to work with children or youth during our summer camp season.  Volunteers may come and serve as a spiritual leader, counselor, or activity leader. Training is provided for all Spiritual Guides and Volunteers each spring.  These trainings are provided to help volunteers understand their special and unique role to both campers and staff.  They learn about the themes and messages shared during the week of camp.

Like our staff, volunteers must complete their safe gatherings training and background screening.
